Right. Let's have a wee chat. Because if you're jumping in the car, paying for parking, queuing outside a bar in the city centre or stressing about the last train home — while we've got live bands playing right here in Bathgate — something's gone very wrong.
September kicked off at Dreadnought Rock the way every month should. Two nights. Two cracking bands. A crowd that came ready to rock and didn't go home disappointed.
What You Missed (Aye, We're Saying It)
Overdrive opened September on the Friday and they absolutely delivered. Rock covers done properly — AC/DC, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, Sabbath — the full lot. The kind of set that reminds you why live music beats a playlist every single time. The room was moving from the first chord.
Then Saturday brought Status No and if you're a Quo fan and you weren't there, you've only yourself to blame. They had the place rocking. Whatever You Want indeed — because what everyone wanted was more. The crowd were brilliant, the band were on fire, and the Dread was exactly what it's supposed to be on a Saturday night.
If you missed both nights — genuinely sorry to hear it.
Hopefully this post gets you organised for what's still to come. Because there's plenty.
But First — Why Are Ye Even Leaving West Lothian?
Seriously. Let's break this down. A night out in Edinburgh these days:
Parking? You're looking at a tenner minimum if you can find a safe one, more if you're not lucky. Petrol on top. Or the train — and if you're having a proper night you're already watching the clock for the last one back. LEZ charges if you do take the car and it's not Euro 6 ! Drinks? City centre prices. You know the score.

The Dread is for West Lothian people. Always has been. Bathgate, Livingston, Linlithgow, Armadale, Whitburn, Broxburn — this is your venue.
It's been here since 1972 and it's not going anywhere.
So stop funding Edinburgh's night out and start using what's right on your doorstep.
Oh — And the Ticket Gets You the Nightclub Too
Here's the bit that still doesn't land as it should.
When you buy a ticket for a live show at the Dread, that's not just the band.
That's the live show downstairs from 8:30pm, and then — if you want to really knock the arse out of it — the rock nightclub upstairs fires up after the live set and goes until 3am.
Same ticket. No extra charge as you stay in, once you are in.
Classic rock, metal and even some pop anthems until 3am with a crowd that's already warmed up nicely from the show.
How many city centre venues are giving you that for the price of an advance ticket?
Exactly. None.
What's Still to Come in September
Right, here's the good news. September is only getting started with something for almost every taste still to come.
🎸 Friday 11 September — JoJoCoke — Rock covers night and this one's a wee bit different. It's pay what you want for the advance ticket. That's not a typo. A quid, a fiver, a tenner — your call, online before 6:30pm on the night. After that it's £5 on the door. No excuse not to be there or nail and advance ticket is there ??
🎸 Saturday 12 September — Guns or Roses — One of the best GnR tributes on the circuit. Welcome to the Jungle. You already know.
🎸 Friday 18 September — Sound Affex — The Jam tribute. Going Underground, Town Called Malice, That's Entertainment. Proper Friday night stuff.
🎸 Saturday 19 September — QWEEN UK — The big one. Premier Queen tribute and this one regularly sells out. Bohemian Rhapsody, Don't Stop Me Now, We Will Rock You — the full Live Experience. Book early or you'll be reading about it after.
🎸 Friday 25 September — Klass of 99 — 90s dance anthem live show. All the bangers, played live on stage. Something a bit different and set to go down a storm.
🎸 Saturday 26 September — All Right Now — Free and Bad Company tribute closing out the month with some proper classic rock. A great send-off for September.
The Bottom Line
Free parking. Cheap drinks. No lez policy. Great live bands. Nightclub until 3am included in your ticket. And it's right here in Bathgate — no city centre faff, no last train stress, no waking up the next morning wondering if the night was worth the hassle.
It was. It always is. And the next one's this Friday.
