THANK YOU, SEPTEMBER — Eight Shows, One Unreal Month

5 min read

September's done, and honestly — what a month. Every single Friday and Saturday covered, eight live shows, eight different nights out, and every one of them made what it was by the people who turned up, danced and the bands who gave it everything on our stage.

So before October gets going, this one's just a thank you. No luck if you missed it or sat on the fence or forgot - that's on you I'm afraid as everything gets blasted from the rooftops every week across every platform, well except Bebo and Myspace.

THE FULL SEPTEMBER LINE-UP

Friday 4th — Overdrive

Kicked the month off with a set of rock covers and doors at 7pm — exactly the kind of night that reminds you why Friday nights at the Dread hit different.

Saturday 5th — Status No

Our Status Quo tribute, doing boogie rock the way it's meant to be done. If you were down the front for this one, you'll know.

Friday 11th — JoJoCoke

Rock covers on a name-your-price door — no excuse not to be there, and plenty of you did but too many weren't.

Saturday 12th — Guns or Roses

One of the best Guns N' Roses tributes on the circuit, and they brought it. Big one.

Friday 18th — Sound Affex

The Jam tribute — mod classics and punk energy in one room. Different crowd, same unbelievable energy.

Saturday 19th — EPIC

Covers from 80s pop, rock, indie and even yacht rock, on a pay-what-you-want door. Proper something-for-everyone night that filled in last minute.

Friday 25th — Klass of 99

A full live band smashing out the biggest 90s dancefloor fillers — Gala, Robin S, N-Trance and more. The Dread turned into a 90s club for a night and nobody complained.

Saturday 26th — All Right Now

Closed the month out with a classic rock double-header — Free and Bad Company, back to back. Proper way to send September off.

THANK YOU

To everyone who came down — whether it was one night or all eight — thank you.

You're the reason this place has been going since 1972 and the reason it's still going now. Queuing in the rain, singing the words back, dancing and staying til close — none of it goes unnoticed as we try our very best to keep the adventure alive even in the most challenging of environments.

And to every band and tribute act who stood on our stage this September — Overdrive, Status No, JoJoCoke, Guns or Roses, Sound Affex, EPIC, Klass of 99, All Right Now — thank you for the sets, the sound checks, the energy, and for making Bathgate your stage for a night. Scotland's longest-running rock club doesn't run on nostalgia alone — it runs on nights like these every weekend of the year regardless of what building we rock in and for nearly for the last TWO DECADES it's been King Street.

The people make the Dread not where it is or has been.

This year, just about now actually marks 20 years since the old hotel closed.

To put it bluntly anyone who is 38 now (as you would have had to be 18 to get in) or younger wouldn't have set foot in the place, so think now is the time to move on don't you.

Granted the memories will live on for ever and a day, but things do eventually change, update and evolve.

WHAT'S COMING UP IN OCTOBER

We're not slowing down.

Every Friday and Saturday is still covered with our usual run of covers and tribute nights — check the gig guide for the full weekly line-up — but October's also got four original-band shows that deserve a shout of their own:

Friday 9th October — This Retro Future, Perception, Scoosh and the Sinners

A triple bill of original Scottish bands sharing the stage for one night only. Three different sounds, one room, one unmissable Friday.

Friday 23rd October — Gypsy Pistoleros, Holyrude Vault, The High Ryes

Gypsy Pistoleros roll into Bathgate on their Dark Faerie Tales album release tour, with Holyrude Vault and The High Ryes opening up. Album launch nights don't come around often — this is one to get down early for.

Sunday 25th October — Kyle Falconer (The View), solo acoustic special

A genuinely special one. Kyle Falconer of The View stripped right back for a solo acoustic show — different pace, same room, and not a ticket you'll want to sleep on.

Friday 30th October — 13 Scream, The Underneath, Fuz Caldrin

Closing out the month the night before Halloween with three more original acts on the bill. Come in costume, come as you are — either way, bring the noise.

That's alongside the regular Friday and Saturday covers and tribute nights running throughout the month as always — keep an eye on the gig guide for the full week-by-week schedule as it's confirmed.

THE OTHER OCTOBER SHOWS

And that's not even the whole month — here's everything else on in October, confirmed straight from the gig guide:

Friday 2nd — Foo Fifers — A Tribute to the Foo Fighters

Scotland's Ultimate Foo Fighters Tribute, voted Best Tribute Live Artist of the Year 2024. Kicks the month off two days early — if you can't wait til payday, this is the one.

Saturday 3rd — Reckless (Covers)

A blast from the past — started out as Blame Culture back in 2006 before becoming Reckless in 2012, and they've been covering the hits across Scotland ever since.

Saturday 10th — Combat Rock — Ultimate Clash Tribute, with Anarchic Disorder

Two hours of The Clash from a band who've shared stages with Stiff Little Fingers at the Barrowlands, gigging constantly around Central Scotland. Support from Anarchic Disorder.

Friday 16th — Alma Fiera (Covers)

Rock covers, no support needed — back at the Dread after a storming show back in July.

Saturday 17th — The Lost Dogs — Seattle / Grunge Rock Tribute

All the flannel, all the fuzz — a night dedicated to Seattle's grunge scene.

Saturday 24th — The Prism — Pink Floyd Tribute

A five-piece Scottish band covering all eras of Floyd, from 1967 right through to 2014.

Saturday 31st — The Dread Halloween Party

Live music from the world famous LATERAL FLOW and nightclub action, Dread-style.

Halloween is always mega here as everyone goes all out to dress up.

Don't leave it late for tickets.

That's eleven shows across October in total, start to finish — see the full list with times and tickets on the gig guide or on our mobile app available on IOS or ANDROID noo.
