NEWS and UPDATES from the DREAD HQ |
May DayWell that's April done and dusted for another year at the Dread. What a rollercoaster ride it turned out to be. Some excellent live shows, nights upstairs rocking still rocking to 3am and a sad farewell to two long standing Dj's that were part of the fabric of the Dreadnought in the last 54 years. We had the honour to bid one of them the best send off we could imagine by hosting the funeral attended by hundreds in persons and hundreds more around the globe as we streamed it. Farewell Mike and Billy - gone but never forgotten as the music you shared over the decades will still run on for years to come. Its was truly humbling to see alot of past and present faces come together once more proving it's not the place that's the Dreadnought it's the people in it that make it special. Now to May 2026. A FIVE weekend month so 10 nights of Live Shows followed by 10 nights of Nightclub action all coming your way. We know it's still tough to balance when, what or if you can go out in the current climate of doom but if you are planning to come to any show please grab a ticket in advance as early as you can. We, like many venues are struggling to find the balance on who to put on, when, what's affordable, what isn't on top of alot of cost rises from just about every angle possible. Seeing those advance sales coming in is the only way to see and ultimately judge what will be viable to go ahead or grab for the lube if we decide to roll the dice that many are just going to saunter up on the night. In this game of Risk v Reward - The risks are getting higher but the rewards getting much harder to come by. LET'S GET to the good stuff now and WHAT'S HEADING YOUR WAY THIS MAY at Scotland's Longest Running Rock Club. |

May rolls on with more top internationally renowned artists, top tributes and covers bands. Each and every Friday / Saturday night just in case you had forgotten. TWO shows originally set to be at Bannermans in Edinburgh have now been re-arranged, rather than be completely cancelled or postponed due to forthcoming emergency work at Bannermans to come to the Dread instead. It's great to see both artists back as they both featured in their early part of their musical careers with us. One in May itself and one at start of June worth mentioning as it was only just confirmed yesterday on last day of April. 23 MAY - CASSIDY PARIS all the way from Australia 6 JUNE - CHEZ KANE from Wales. Anyone who purchased via Tickets Scotland will still remain valid and now transferred to our account. Kicking off the month we have SCOOSH and the SINNERS back supported by Azurscenes and R66 making their Dread debut - Three cracking and different bands for a fiver is seriously good value. The Ultimate JUDAS PRIEST tribute are back on Sat 2 MAY in the form of HELLBENT FOREVER. Sales aren't where we wanted them to be but we WILL go ahead with it vaseline at the ready. So if you sat on the sidelines waiting and hoping then your prayers have been answered so go get a ticket. A few regular and popular covers bands return to the stage in May ALL worthy of your attention - ALL playing a massive variety of songs you all know and love - ALL for less than a fiver ? I know - yet again seriously good value entertainment. So get along to SHARDLAKE , THE GI JOES , FASTFORWARD , GORDONS ALIVE and JOJOCOKE in May. ALL the details (just like any of our shows) can be found at : https://www.dreadnoughtrock.co.uk/liveshows BLACK ROSE are back with their usual very high standard THIN LIZZY tribute show to the Dreadnought on 16th May. A band that has featured since the very first few months of moving to King Street, jings nearly 18 years ago now and ever since. As mentioned earlier CASSIDY PARIS will join us now on Sat 23 May supported by FIREHEART. Two superb original Rock Bands that are not to be missed as shows like this are unique and rarely come around that often so make the effort - get a ticket - get to the show. Rounding off the month in style as we see LIZZIE and THE BANSHEES back home at the Dread. We thought a couple of years ago that was the only tribute to Siouxsie and the Banshees in the land who had decide to call it a day was the last time we would see Lizzie and the lads on our stage. BUT after a wee line up shuffle great to say they will be back. If you are planning on coming along please think about ploughing in for a ticket in advance. That can be done safely and securely from our website or direct to our ticket partner Universe. Oh and just in case you miss my regular reminders about advance ticket - unlike many venues and ticket platforms if any of our shows sadly are postponed or cancelled we refund yor ticket AND booking fee so you are not out of pocket in anyway. |
