IS ANYONE OUT THERE ?

Over the decades even going back to the days of BEBO and MYSPACE I've pushed our venue and shows across all aspects of the social media. I felt I had to. I didn't want to but did none the less.


I always felt, one of those niggling deep down feelings one day it would only cause people to get complacent at actually going to LOOK and find things out for themselves rather waiting on it popping up in their feeds.


You will be with me on this as there is definitely a person you've seen recently asking a question that they could quite easily use google to find out the answer for themselves. For example as when a shop is open, when a show starts, what colours does it come in .... I mean the list is endless that I see and has made me acutely aware that relying on people to go and LOOK and READ what is going on around them OFF social media which has become a major issue to any small venue like ourselves adding to the headaches of operating in 2025.


EVERY single week I hear oh I didn't know that was on, I would have come to that, Etc etc and when I ask did you go on the website (that's been going since 2007 fyi) to see what's on a blank expression comes back time and again. The first place anything is listed and updated on ? Still a blank.


You should try going on social media to push your shows I get told.

Again I'll drop in the average post output is anything between 5 and 40 per day at all times of day along with PAID adverts which cost thousands every year now.

So did you not see any of those ? Are you following any our pages (as there is three on FB alone) Instagram, Threads, TokTik and dare I mention it these days X (twitter)

You don't - so how will you see the posts and if you don't engage often enough FB will limit what you see in due course from us.


I'm not going to go on but I know the posts are there and in vast numbers but in this day and age where I know you won't see everything or anything we put out as the socials are clever guys and will always push paid stuff and adverts at you like there's no tomorrow squeezing out my posts in the process, so unless you engage with the pages regularly or as I've been saying for years - actually take 5 and have a wee look you might see little to nothing from Dread HQ unless it's bad news as every man, dug and sheep in the fields see those posts when they drop. I can't imagine the hits and post uptake if we ever say we are closing ! It might break Facebook.


So here's a wee challenge to anyone reading this BLOG.

I dare YOU to google DREADNOUGHTROCK.

See what comes back.

Page after page of info, links, stories, events, website links, photos, videos...........

It's actually overwhelming to see it all going back years on images and video's.


I can only put it all out there, you have to actually look and read where I know you will the info you are looking for. It's like leading a horse to water, I can do that BUT I can't make it take a wee drink.


I ran a small social experiment yesterday.

I put a post up asking people to like the post - simple.

I put the same post over ALL our social media - over 18000 people potentially can see our posts along with cats doing back flips on tiktok.

In 24hrs - 88 likes came back over all avenues which equates to HALF a percent of those who can access our pages and profiles.

I'll leave you with that as finding our What's on is a two way street these days.

Don't look you'll never find out - Have a look and it might be a Eureka moment for us all.
