JUN.....JULEMBER

June is all but done for another year at the Dread.

Again many thanks to all who came out throughout May and June to not only support the bands who came to play from all over the UK, get a cracking value nights entertainment but also support the venue by simply being here or is it there ? Anyhoo thanks a million.

We have TWO more nights to round things of coming up from two or is it three amazing tributes.

Friday 27 June - THEM and US return for a night of Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd. Still a real head scratcher for me why a band would do two seperate sets of music to totally contrasting iconic bands but have to say it works amazingly from some truly talented musicians and has done multiple times in the past.

If you still don’t have a ticket you still can by heading to the website or the link on their name. Tickets are £13.20 including booking fee via our prefered ticket agent - Universe.

Saturday 28 June - STATUS NO with a tribute to, and you probably already guessed it STATUS QUO.

First time outing for these guys at the Dreadnought.

We had no real option but to change things up this year and pretty sure these guys with their old skool approach to playing QUO classics will more than exceed your expectations having played at many a Quo convention being held in high regard among their QUO peers and Fans alike.

If you still don’t have a ticket you still can by heading to the website or the link on their name.

Tickets are £13.20 including booking fee via our prefered ticket agent - Universe.

Talking of ticket agents another wee reminder that our preferred ticket agent of choice is UNIVERSE and have been since January for some very important reasons. Despite championing Skiddle for over a decade I found that the time for change was upon us. I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty but if interested is in a blog from December last year on the website.

One thing I don’t mind sharing about Universe and before the booing starts with them being a Ticketmaster company is the direct support they give to us financially in a special deal in association with the Music Venue Trust where 50% of the booking fee comes right back to us.

This invaluable support helps pay for repairs or upgrades, any shortfalls in income on shows if it wasn’t busy enough etc etc.

In the challenging times for small venues like ourselves face right now it really helps as does your support by continuing to buy your tickets in advance knowing you help twice. Once for being at the show of your choice but with 50% of the booking fee too.

I have to admit quite openly it’s getting harder as we continue into the year to reach and get through to enough people the importance of buying an advance ticket to a show you intend to come along to as many intentionally leave it to the last minute just in case the show is cancelled. I shit you not and will leave you to work out that logic for yourself.

Buying a ticket is the only real barometer of how a show is doing to pass onto the bands sometimes travelling hundreds of miles to play, to staff properly or dare I say it how viable the show will be financially for us.

I recently spotted a comment - Likes and shares won’t pay the electric which kinda hits home and perfect place to put a pin in that as we look ahead to JULY where we hope you can join us.

8 more nights and one special Sunday afternoon sesh for you on the live stage just a weekend away.

A massive variety to choose from also - SOUL, FUNK, POP, ROCK, PUNK, GLAM, COUNTRY, ROCKABILLY, YACHT ROCK (you can look that one up) and some PUNK for good measure with nearly all tickets being under a tenner including booking fee’s.

Friday 4th July welcomes back a band that has gone through so many changes since they made their debut with us not too long ago BUT they keep coming back better and better playing a great selection of rock based covers from all era’s. If you’ve not yet caught THE WILD HOGS then now’s your chance.

Saturday 5th July and it’s GLAM ROCK TIME with the sensational BLOCKBUSTARZ who have graced our stage many many times rolling out those 70’s glamtastic hits of old that you know and love. Flare else would you want to be ?

SUNDAY 6th July - A special Sunday show with NIGHTFLY

For the last 60 years John Hannon who plays bass in Nightfly also formerly known as Isis and Ryan Express that may jog a few memories and at the tender age of 80 has decided to take the foot off the throttle in 2025 before hanging up that amazing 6 string bass.

SO not to state the obvious but this may well be the last chance we have for NIGHTFLY with John in the band play hence the SUNDAY SPECIAL option.

Now as if a day of live musical genius wasn’t enough Mr JASON SWEENEY will be opening up the day.

Doors are 2pm - thats 2pm with Jason on 2.30pm mark for a good set acoustically then passing to NIghtfly for two sets.

Friday 11 July - First time outing at the Dreadnought for COW COW BOOGIE who will bring some Rockabilly, Country and Western with a sprinkle of Blues to the Dreadnought. An amazing band and for all those who wanted “something different”, time to tie those pony’s up for a drink outside and come rock and roll inside.

Sat 12 July. MORE AC/DC ?

Well why not BUT this is a FEMALE fronted Ac/Dc Tribute to keep the “you wanted” something different theme going as we welcome along to play for the first time (ish) HEATSEEKER.

Another top night of Dc classics to warm you up nicely for the real thing at Murrayfield soon ? Bear in mind you’ve not as far to go to the loo or bar, or get trousered for two beers that will be warm by the time ye get back from the bar when you come to the Dread so why not give HEATSEEKER a look see.

Friday 18 July.

And now for something completely different………yeah more ye wanted different…….

They will bring the FUNK - THE SOUL and more POP songs than any other band in July, possibly this year.

Too young to play these classics ? NO chance. Lily and the lads nail every single song. Seeing is believing though so get a ticket and come hear for yourself. I dare ye….even the most hardened of rocker who secretly has a soul soft spot in them.

Sat 19th July

For a change a scheduled show with local based covers band JOJO COKE who for the last 15 years have graced our small stage with some massive Grunge, Blues, Rock and Alternative tunes. So if you’ve STILL not caught them, then this may well be your chance. Tickets are £4.40 inc booking fee.

Ye canny even get a single haggis from the chippy for that now that lasts 5 mins to wolf down.

Friday 25 July we get PUNK’d

Not the beer - the era.

The TROOPS of TOMORROW return for a solo mission to bring all the punk you could ever want filling the void in the punk covers page after local legends Emergency Exit have went on hiatus. You name it these guys play it and be it on you won head if you ask for Kylie.

Sat 26 July

We hit the FASTFORWARD button once again. Always a pleasure to have these guys and gal back to play a great selection of POPULAR chart hits from the 80’s and 90’s along with some classic Rock Songs to keep all those in the leather section happy….not that there is one. I was being stereotypical as many still think…oh its all hairy bikers and headbanging in there….

How wrong they are and how many great nights of entertainment they miss, but those in the know, know to grab a ticket and know they are in for a great nights live entertainment knowing what really happens and the virgin sacrifices only take place on the first blue moon of Rocktober now.

NOW if that wasn’t enough - AUGUST is only a skip and a jump away to ensure you lock in a ticket for.

Just two nights to nail down fully as I balance things also that Outside the Original scheduled to play on 30th will now return in 2026 due to a band member requiring some surgery where the recovery time won’t be enough to make the date.

As ever ALL the info can be found on our website www.dreadnoughtrock.co.uk and .com along with those ALL IMPORTANT Advance Tickets.
